All rights reserved. http://usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://usgwarchives.net/la/lafiles.htm ********************************************** From: January 17, 1946 Winn Parish Enterprise Tullos Boy, 12, Drowned Thursday In Castor Creek Earl Ted Goodman, 12 year old son of Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Goodman of Tullos, drowned at about 4:30 last Thursday afternoon when a homemade boat in which he and a little friend were playing in the backwater of Castor Creek at Tullos. His playmante reached the bank safely but Earl clung to an oil derrick for a short while and drowned when he tried to swim to shore before rescuers came. His older brother, Larry, was on the way from home to help him but arrived too late. The American Legion from Monroe was called and recovered the body at about 9:30 Thursday night, 60 feet down the river. Funeral services were held last Friday at 3 p.m. in the Baptist Church in Tullos with Rev. F. H. Hart, pastor, officiating. The Tullos Boy Scout Troop were pallbearers and the Cub Scouts were honorary pallbearers. Hixson Brothers Funeral Home was in charge. Surviving besides the parents are three brothers, Larry, Mickey, and Harold. The boy was a nephew to E. H. "Kidd" Farr, and grandson of Mr. and Mrs. M. M. Farr of Winnfield.
