W. Gorham, Sr., 72, Succumbs After Long Illness Matthew W. Gorham, Sr., 72, of Winnfield, died in a local hospital at 4:30 p.m. March 5, 1959, after a long illness. Mr. Gorham was a life long resident of Winn Parish and was a retired insurance salesman. He was a member of the Union Baptist Church and the Winnfield Masonic Lodge. Funeral services were held in the East Winnfield Baptist Church at 2 p.m. Friday. The Rev. Willie James and the Rev. Kenneth Wall officiated and burial was in the Gorham family cemetery near here, under direction of Southern Funeral Home. Masonic graveside rites were conducted. Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Fannie Gorham; three sons, Matthew Gorham, Jr., Lake Charles, Lee Roy Gorham and Hiram Gorham both of New Orleans; two daughters, Mrs. T. A. Blalock, Lakes Charles, and Miss Elvie Gorham, Winnfield; 12 grandchildren and three great grandchildren; two brothers, Robert Gorham and Aaron Gorham, both of Winnfield, and one sister, Mrs. Otis Davis of Joyce.
