John Robert Gorham, Sr., Dies Thursday In Local Hospital

John Robert Gorham, Sr., 78, a life-long resident of Winnfield, died in a
local hospital Thursday morning at 8:45 o'clock following a long illness.

Mr. Gorham, a retired brick mason, had been in failing health several years.
About three months ago he fell at his home early one morning, sustaining a
broken hip bone, which injury had kept him confined to his bed until his
death.

Funeral services will be held Friday at the Laurel Heights Baptist Church with
Rev. Waynon Mott officiating.  Interment will follow in the Gorham Cemetery at
Joyce.

Survivors are four sons, Herman, John R., Jr., Julius and Howard Gorham of
Winnfield; four daughters, Mrs. E. G. Edmonds, Atlanta, Mrs. J. C. Creel,
Dodson, Mrs. Dennis Curry, Winnfield, and Mrs. T. A. Maxwell, Tioga; one
sister, Mrs. Mary M. Varnell, Winnfield, 25 grandchildren and 8 great
grandchildren.
