Elton Gorham was killed in action in Germany according to a telegram received by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Bobby Gorham, Thursday morning of this week. Pfc. Gorham had recovered from wounds twice since his overseas duty began in Italy January 1944. In July 1944 he was transferred to Southern France and it was here that when he found himself in a hot spot one day, he captured a German soldier with a shovel handle, thus turning the trick on the enemy. Pfc. Gorham entered the service March 1943 and after 10 months training at Camp Butner, NC, he went overseas.
