Gorham Farrell Haywood Gorham, 28 years and seven days of age, died at the family home east of Winnfield, Monday, April 24, 1933, 9:30 o'clock, having been brought back from the Charity Hospital in Shreveport at 12:00 that day. Funeral services were conducted at the Gorham Cemetery Tuesday afternoon at 4 o'clock. The Rev. Alwin Stokes, pastor Presbyterian Church, had charge of the services, assisted by Rev. Ellis Smith, pastor First Methodist Church. On November 18th, 1931, Farrell Gorham was injured in a fall while employed by a lumber company at Jena. He was carried immediately to the Baptist Hospital in Alexandria, where he stayed until February 26, 1932. He was then brought to the home of his parents, Mr. and Mrs. John R. Gorham, of Winnfield. On January 13, 1933, he was taken to the Charity Hospital, Shreveport, but doctors advised his people that nothing could be done to lessen his suffering and to bring him home. A fine tribute was paid to the deceased when the Rev. Stokes said, "If anyone in Winnfield was prepared to die, Farrell was." He was an upright citizen and Christian. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Maudie Harris Gorham; parents, Mr. and Mrs. John R. Gorham, and the following brothers and sisters: Mrs. Ruby Edmonds, John R., Herman, Roy, Audrey Mae, Allene, Julius, Louise, and Howard, and numerous relatives and friends to mourn his passing. No. 2 Farrell H. Gorham Succumbs After Very Long Illness Lives Many Months After Suffering Broken Back Farrell Haywood Gorham, age 28 years, died at his home here Monday, April 24, at 9:30 o'clock. Mr. Gorham suffered a broken back on November 18, 1931, after which he spent several months in the Baptist Hospital at Alexandria, returning to his home in Feb., 1932. He seemingly improved for awhile but complications developed and he was carried to the charity hospital in Shreveport in January of this year where he underwent an operation. He was brought home Monday morning in a very weakened condition and died shortly afterward. Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon at 4 o'clock at Gorham cemetery where interment was made. Services were conducted by Rev. Alwin Stokes, pastor of the Presbyterian Church and Rev. Ellis Smith, pastor of the Methodist Church, with a large concourse of friends in attendance to pay their last respects. The deceased is survived by hiw wife, Mrs. Maudie Harris Gorham; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. R. Gorham; and the following sisters and brothers: Mrs. Ruby Edmonds, John R. Gorham, Herman Gorham, Roy Gorham, Julius Gorham, Louise Gorham, and Howard Gorham.
