Mrs. Martha Gorham Dies Saturday at the Home of Her Daughter

Mrs. Martha McCulom Gorham, 76, wife of Jesse Gorham died Saturday at the home
of her daughter, Mrs. S. T. Whisenant, following a long illness.

Mrs. Gorham was born in Union Parish near Farmerville and was married to
Rankin Varnell to which union two children were born.  After his death she
married Jesse Gorham to which union nine children were born, three of whom
preceded her in death.

She has been a member of the Baptist Church for fifty years.

Besides her husband she leaves six children, Bill and Henry Varnell, R. W.
and Jake Gorham, Mrs. Ellen Cockerham, and Mrs. S. T. Whisenant, all of
Winnfield.  She also leaves 37 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren, and
two sisters, Mrs. W. M. Grice and Mrs. Tilda Grice, of Winnfield, Route Two.

Interment was held in the Gorham Cemetery with the Rev. O. L. Hughes
officiating.
