R. Gorham, Jr., Succumbs Oct. 21 Mrs. John Robert Gorham, Jr., 37, succumbed suddenly from a heart attack at her home here Thursday morning, October 21, 1943, at 7 o'clock. She had undergone an operation for appendicitis at a local clinic last week and had improved sufficiently to be moved to her home. Her death came as a shock to a large number of friends and relatives. Mrs. Gorham, before her marriage was Miss Thelma Page. She was born and reared in Winnfield and was a member of the East Winnfield Baptist Church. Funeral arrangements had not been completed pending the arrival of a sister from California. Burial will be made in the East Winnfield Cemetery. Mrs. Gorham is survived by her husband, John Robert Gorham, Jr., and three children, Wynonia, 13, Billy Thomas, 8, and Lawrence, 3; her mother, Mrs. M. L. Page, who resided with her daughter; and the following sisters and brothers: Miss Mary Page, New Orleans; Mrs. Clara Gray, Torrence, Calif.; Henry Page, New Orleans; Stephen Page, Port Arthur, Texas; and Dan and Wiley Page, Winnfield.
