Gorham Succumbs May 9 In East Winnfield Last Rites Were Conducted Saturday Afternoon At Gorham Cemetery Mrs. Wesley Gorham, 66 years of age, died at her home in East Winnfield, Thursday night, May 9, 1940, following an illness of more than a year. Funeral services were conducted Saturday afternoon at the East Winnfield Baptist Church with the pastor, Rev. D. W. McDaniel and Rev. Alwin Stokes, pastor of the Winnfield Presbyterian Church, officiating. Interment was in the Gorham Cemetery. Acting as pallbearers were the following grandchildren: Curtis and Arvelle Sanders, Willie and Byron Sayes, and Hardy and Stanley Townsend. Mrs. Gorham was before her marriage, Miss Ollie O'Leary, a lifelong resident of this parish. She was a member of the East Winnfield Church. Surviving are her husband, Wesley Gorham, who has been an invalid for several years; three sons, Henry, Hilton, and Clarence Gorham, all of Winnfield; four daughters, Mrs. G. P. Eagles, Winnfield; Mrs. Hannon Sayes, Vick, La.; Mrs. A. W. Cockerham, Shreveport; and Mrs. R. F. Sanders, Epps, La.; two daughters, Mrs. Geneva Townsend and Mrs. Ella Sanders; one brother, Willie O'Leary, Mangham, La.; three sisters, Mrs. Mellie McCloud, Winnfield, Mrs. Tennie Tarver, Lake Charles, and Mrs. Letitia Whitten, Joaquin, Texas.
