He had been in ill health several years, but after undergoing an operation in which an artery was replaced with a plastic one, he continued to operate his grocery store until a short time before his death. Mr. Gresham was born and reared in Atlanta and spent most of his life in the community. He was a member and chairman of the deacons of the Atlanta Baptist Church. Last rites were conducted at 3 p.m., May 14 in the Atlanta Baptist Church, with the pastor, Rev. Ray Teal officiating, assisted by Rev. Dell Durand, Atlanta Methodist pastor. Burial was in the Atlanta Cemetery under direction of Southern Funeral Home. Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Annie Bell Gresham, Atlanta; one son, Melvin Gresham, Winnfield; two brothers, J. P., and C. E. Gresham, Atlanta; two sisters, Mrs. W. M. Leary of Start, La., and mrs. D. F. Williams, of Atlanta; two grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Acting as pallbearers were Marvin Horn, Bob Horn, J. W. Barr, J. L. Carter, Ed Collins, Jr., Richard Collins, George Bennett, and Tritos Ferguson.
