"Woody" Grigg, a 23 year old former high school football All-American for Winnfield Senior High School. Grigg died of an apparent self-inflicted gunshot would at 3:30 p.m., Monday. Dr. Calvin Phelps officiated this afternoon's services. Burial was in the Garden of Memories Cemetery under the direction of Southern Funeral Home. Survivors include his wife, Jeanine M. Grigg of Pineville, his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ed. J. Griff, of Winnfield; one sister, Ginger Peterson of Winnfield; one brother, Jess Grigg of Ruston; and his maternal grandmother, Carrie Wimberly of Winnfield. Pallbearers were Lamar Tarver, Joe Dosher, James Lloyd Collins, Alan Mobley, Randy Hall, Marty Harrel, Donnie Purser, and James Graham. One of the most sought after recruits in the nation, Grigg played collegiately for the University of Mississippi. He was a graduate of the AAA Welding School of Tulsa, Oklahoma and a member of the First Baptist Church of Pineville. He was employed as a welder for Pine Bluff Sand and Gravel Co.
