H. Griffin, Local Businessman Is Buried April 3 Funeral services for J. H. Griffin, 54, Winnfield groceryman, were held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, April 3, in the chapel of Southern Funeral Home. The Rev. W. L. Holcomb officiated. Interment was in the Halsey Cemetery in West Monroe. Acting as pallbearers were Roy Griffin, Charles Thornton, Billie Ross, Max Allen, Raburn Strickland, and Marvin Harrell. Mr. Griffin died at 4 p.m. Monday in a local hospital following a heart attack. He was a native of Ouachita Parish, but had been a resident of Winnfield for 17 years. He owned and operated the Pik-Sak Grocery here. Prior to that he operated a bottling plant in Winnfield. Survivors include the widow; two daughters, Glenda Sue Griffin and Mrs. J. P. Williams of Winnfield; two sons, Charles Griffin of Winnfield and Sgt. J. H. Griffin of the U. S. Air Force, Great Falls, Mont.; one brother, Laurin Griffin of Livingston, Tex.; two sisters, Miss Jewel Griffin and Mrs. Elaine Reed of Pineville; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. John A. Griffin of Pineville; and three grandchildren.
