All rights reserved. http://usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://usgwarchives.net/la/lafiles.htm ********************************************** >From the December 30, 1949 Winnfield News-American Mrs. Waco Grigsby Dies Suddenly At Home Wednesday Funeral Conducted For Prominent Local Woman on Thursday Funeral services were held here at 2 p.m. Thursday for Mrs. Irene Eagles Grigsby, 60, who was found dead in her room in the family residence here by her husband, Waco Grigsby, at 8 a.m., Wednesday. Services were conducted at the residence by the Rev. H. H. McBride, pastor of the First Baptist Church, assisted by the Rev. Alwin Stokes, First Presbyterian Church, and the Rev. H. J. Mott, Laurel Heights Baptist church. Interment was in the Winnfield Cemetery, under the direction of the Hixon Brothers Funeral Home. Pallbearers were Dr. A. W. Radescich, Johnny Holmes, Shirley Jackson, Edward Horton, Bill Horton, Ivy Keyes, and Clyde DeLoach. Mrs. Grigsby, who was born December 7, 1889, and lived here all of her life, is survived by her husband, Waco Grigsby; four sons, Edward W. Grigsby and Ulysses S. Grigsby of Winnfield, Joe Grigsby of Shreveport and W. M. Grigsby of Lake Charles; three daughters, Mrs. Elsie Dickerson of Shreveport, Mrs. T. R. Stafford of Baton Rouge, and Mrs. W. H. Blakewood of Liberty, Miss.; two brothers, George Eagles and Earl Eagles of Winnfield, and three sisters, Mrs. Guy Johnson of Winnfield, Mrs. J. L. Land of Shreveport and Mrs. T. G. Smith of Victoria, Texas. Mrs. Grigsby was a member of the Baptist Church here. (Submitted by Greggory Ellis Davies, Winnfield, Winn Parish, LA.)
