All rights reserved. http://usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://usgwarchives.net/la/lafiles.htm ********************************************** From: April 19, 1945 Winn Parish Enterprise Death Claims Mrs. Nancy Katie Greer of Rt. 4, Winnfield Mrs. Nancy Katie Greer, 76 year old resident of Route Four, Winnfield, succumbed at the home of her granddaughter, Mrs. John Grey, of Hodge, April 4, after an illness of several years. Funeral services were conducted April 16 at the Zion Hill Church with Rev. C. M. Robinson and Rev. Alwin Stokes officiating. Interment was in the Zion Hill Cemetery under the direction of Southern Funeral Home. Mrs. Greer was a faithful Christian and leaves a host of relatives and friends in this section. Twice married, her husbands, Mr. McFarland and N. C. Greer, preceded her in death. Surviving are four daughters, Mrs. J. W. Box, Rt. 1, Goldonna; Mrs. Drew Carroway, Winnfield; Mrs. V. H. Wheeler, Mobile, Ala.; and Mrs. G. H. Parish, Ashland; three sons, Jack McFarland, Tannehill; Edmond McFarland, Packton; and Bud McFarland, Redondo, Calif. She also leaves two brothers, Ed Warner of Jonesville and Jim Warner of Winnfield; two half brothers, Mrs. Tinnie Banks, West Monroe; and Mrs. D. M. Parsons, Shreveport; one half brother, John Warner of Route 4, Winnfield. The deceased had seven grandsons in service: Cpl. W. L. McFarland, somewhere in the Pacific; G. T. McFarland, BM 1/C overseas; J. W. Box, S 1/C, South Pacific; Cpl. Kenneth C. Box, France; Sgt. Marvin Carroway, Marana, Ariz.; T/5 James Cockerham, Germany; Sgt. Melvin Cockerham, France.
