All rights reserved. http://usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://usgwarchives.net/la/lafiles.htm ********************************************** From: April 29, 1965 Winn Parish Enterprise News-American Final Rites For Mrs. Hattie Groves Held Thursday Mrs. Hattie Webb Groves, 89, owner and operator of the Marlin Hotel in Winnfield for 35 years or more, died at 1 a.m. Wednesday, April 28, 1965, after a long illness. She was a native of Magnolia, Arkansas but lived in Winn Parish since the age of 14, having resided in Atlanta during her early years. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Winnfield. Funeral services were held at 2:30 p.m. Thursday in the chapel of Southern Funeral Home in Winnfield, with Dr. W. L. Holcomb officiating. Burial was in the Atlanta Cemetery. Acting as pallbearers were Troy Smith, J. G. Berry, E. J. Buchanan, Albert Little, J. E. Ruddell, and Johnny Meadow. Mrs. Groves is survived by two daughters, Mrs. C. H. Roden and Mrs. H. E. Parham, both of Winnfield; one sister, Mrs. Pearl Boehm of Alexandria; two grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
