P. Gresham, 90 Year Resident Funeral services were held in the Atlanta Baptist Church, March 6, for Silas Parkley Beasley Gresham, 90, who died of a heart attack at his home on March 5. Rev. Ernest Walker officiated at the services. Graveside rites were conducted by the Masonic Order, of which he had been a member for fifty years. Interment was in the Atlanta Cemetery. He was a member of the Baptist Church. A great lover of gospel singing he had attended many singing conventions during his lifetime where he often led in the gospel singing. He was affectionately know as "Uncle Bea" to everyone in his community. He had come to Winnfield and registered to vote on the morning of his death. Uncle Bea was born on Sept. 8, 1862. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Lillian Dean Gresham; five children, 19 grandchildren, 30 great grandchildren, and 4 great-great grandchildren. The children are Mrs. Bertie Leary, Start, La.; Mrs. Don Williams, Houston; H. A. Gresham, J. P. Gresham, and C. E. Gresham, Atlanta. Pallbearers were great grandsons and great grandsons, Gresham and Kenneth Williams, Orbrie Leary, Hezzie Creel, Melvin Gresham, Carl J. Gresham, John Dale Allen, and Gene Wallace.
