Zion Methodist Church at 3 p.m. Saturday, May 10, 1952, for James Wiley Gunn, prominent Winn Parish citizen who died early Friday afternoon at the age of 61 years, 11 months, and 27 days. Rites were conducted by the Reverends C. J. T. Cotton of Mt. Zion, Mrs. Lula Wardlow of Montgomery, and J. W. Lee of Natchitoches, and interment was in the Mt. Zion Cemetery with Masonic ceremonies at graveside. Pallbearers were J. E. Garner, Johnny Keiffer, Mack McGinty, Irvin Shaw, Frank Fredieu, and Ollie Bishop. A native of Bienville, La., Mr. Gunn was born May 12, 1890, and affiliated with the Methodist Church at the age of 12. He was a member of Mt. Zion Church since 1942. WAS WINN OFFICIAL He was president of the Police Jury of Winn Parish for four years and later served as school board member from Ward five. He was a member of Montgomery Masonic Lodge, No. 168 F. & A. M. Mr. Gunn was married Feb. 12, 1913 to Miss Jessie Frances Neal, and to this union were born three sons: James Jeff Gunn of Philadelphia, Pa., Murrell Harrison Gunn of Montgomery, and Will Howard Gunn of Houston, Texas. He is survived by his wife and three sons and four grandchildren; a brother, D. C. Gunn, and four sisters: Mrs. Virginia Dyer of Cheyneville, Mrs. Mary Bartlett, Mrs. Grace Ernest and Mrs. Eunice Glotfelter, all of El Paso, Tex. Honorary pallbearers included Cheston Stevens, Willard Kilpatrick, Owen Wardlaw, F. G. Wardlaw, W. P. Williams, Conley Strickland, T. W. Fowler, Henry Keiffer, Howard Kilpatrick, E. W. McGinty, J. T. McLamore, Dr. M. L. Kuhlman and Edd Mitchell.
