W. Gunn, age 42 years, of Port Arthur, Texas, died Sunday afternoon at the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. C. C. Allen at Pleasant Hill, Ward 2, following an illness of several months. Mrs. Gunn was born November 8, 1886 at the home place near Winnfield. In 1908 she was married to W. W. Gunn, to which union two daughters were born, Mrs. Lillie Blanche Whipp of Port Arthur, Texas, and Bernice Gunn. Mrs. Gunn was a member of the Methodist Protestant Church, having joined that church in 1912 and since has lived an exemplary Christian life, endearing herself to all who knew her. She was a member of a family of nine children, the youngest now 26 years old and her death is the first broken tie of the family, parents, and children. Funeral services were conducted by the Rev. Henry Lewis, assisted by the Rev. J. A. McMurray, Monday morning at ten o'clock and she was laid to rest in the family cemetery near the family home. The many floral offerings and attendance of the host of friends attested to the esteem and love in which she was held by all who knew her. Mrs. Gunn is survived by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. C. C. Allen, five brothers, W. R. Allen, C. W. Allen, Dewey Allen, M. M. Allen, I. L. Allen, three sisters, Mrs. W. L. Smith, Mrs. G. W. Taylor, and Miss Mary Bell Allen, of Winn Parish.
