All rights reserved. http://usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://usgwarchives.net/la/lafiles.htm ********************************************** From: January 18, 1934 Winn Parish Enterprise Accident Causes Death of Man Near Wattsville Farmer Falls Under Wheel Of Truck and is Crushed Ernest Guthrie, about 48 years of age, died Saturday night from injuries suffered when he fell from a truck a short distance north of Calvin on the Wattsville Road Saturday afternoon. The deceased who was subject to severe spells of sickness, is thought to have either fallen from the truck while ill or to have fallen asleep. The rear wheels of the vehicle passed over his body before the driver, Frank Carpenter, could stop the truck. At the time of the accident the truck, in the cab of which was the wife of the deceased, was going down hill and it was not until after the wheels passed over the body that the driver was aware of the danger. Mr. Guthrie leaves his wife and five or six children. He was a farmer in the Wattsville section. Funeral services were conducted Saturday afternoon by the Rev. Moss, pastor of Sanders Chapel. Interment was in the Wattsville Cemetery.
