Guthrie, 81, Dies At His Home In Calvin Monday Ransom J. Guthrie, age 81, died at his home near Calvin Monday morning after an illness of many months. Mr. Guthrie was born in Calhoun County, Mississippi in 1849 and moved to Winn Parish settling in Ward 8 in 1890. Considered one of the most substantial citizens of Winn Parish, he was never active in political and partisan issues, but in his quiet, unassuming way performed the duties of his citizenship. He was twice married, the second time to Miss Sallie Martin, who survives him with four children by his first marriage, two sons, Earnes and Walter, who lived with him, two daughters, Mrs. Arthur Moffett of Gansville, and Mrs. Henry Warren. He was a member of the Primitive Baptist Church and funeral services were conducted by the Rev. W. C. Hand and interment made in the Bethlehem Church cemetery Monday afternoon at four o'clock.
