All rights reserved. http://usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://usgwarchives.net/la/lafiles.htm ********************************************** From: May 11, 1961 Winn Parish Enterprise News-American Last Rites Held For Mrs. Florence Gwin Mon., May 8 Funeral services for Mrs. Florence Gwin, 82, a resident of Winnfield since 1912, who died in a Winnsboro hospital May 7, were conducted at 3:30 p.m. Monday, May 8, at the First Methodist Church. Officiating were Rev. R. H. Staples, Rev. Robert Gage, and Rev. P. M. Carraway. Burial was in the Winnfield Cemetery under direction of Hixson Funeral Home. Acting as pallbearers were James Russell, Richard Heard, Dudley Shell, L. Rickerson, Johnny Jackson, Willie Gaar, Joe Bevill and Tommy Harrel. A native of Franklin Parish, Mrs. Gwin was the widow of the late A. J. Gwin, prominent Winnfield businessman. She was a retired Winnfield school teacher and had been active in the First Methodist Church. Survivors include one step-daughter, Mrs. Mack L. Branch, one step-daughter- in-law, Mrs. John Gwin, both of Winnfield, one stepson, Buster Gwin, Union Springs, Ala., and a number of nieces and nephews.
