All rights reserved. http://usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://usgwarchives.net/la/lafiles.htm ********************************************** From: February 3, 1927 Winn Parish Enterprise Andrew Jackson Gwin Andrew Jackson Gwin, age 70 years, 6 months and 21 days, died at his residence at 2:30 o'clock Monday morning after an extended illness of several months. Mr. Gwin came to Winnfield from Minden more than 20 years ago as a contractor, and erected some of the town's first brick buildings. He later erected the Winnfield Brick Works and engaged in the manufacture of brick, which he continued successfully until his death. He was public spirited, taking an active part in every movement for the advancement of our town and country, a leading member of the First Methodist Church and an active worker in its Sunday school and other organizations. Besides his wife he leaves two sons and one daughter, John and Buster Gwin and Mrs. Mc. L. Branch. Funeral services were held Tuesday at 3 o'clock at the First Methodist Church, the pastor, Rev. P. M. Caraway, conducting the services. Interment was in the Winnfield Cemetery. Active pallbearers were: J. M. Hyde, B. W. Bailey, C. E. Tannehill, R. W. Oglesby, Dr. F. C. Wren, and P. K. Abel. Honorary pallbearers were: R. S. Walsh, J. T. Wood, Dr. A. W. Radescich, E. N. Jackson, J. R. Heard, G. W. Barton, J. A. Nugent, L. R. Neill, M. D. Morgan, G. B. Dalton, A. L. McDonald, W. W. Curry, C. L. Smith, D. F. Shell, W. J. Walker, Tracy Harrell, L. Rickerson, J. W. Harrell, J. R. Watts, and B. L. Fulton.
