All rights reserved. http://usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://usgwarchives.net/la/lafiles.htm ********************************************** From: March 18, 1937 Winn Parish Enterprise Accident Is Fatal To Homer Gwin Monday Employee of The Thomas Lumber Company Caught By Belt Homer Gwin, 37 years old, was fatally injured at the Thomas Lumber Mill, Monday, March 15. The accident occurred in the afternoon during the changing of a belt on the line shaft of the mill, when the belt caught Mr. Gwin's sleeve, jerking him over and jamming his head on a bridge tree. He suffered a fractured skull and a crushed chest. He was rushed to a clinic where he died at 5:00 p.m. Mr. Gwin came to Winnfield three months ago from Standard and received work with the Thomas Lumber Company. He was a member of the Baptist Church and of the Olla Lodge No. 303, F. & A. M. Those who survive are his wife, Mrs. Ina Gwin, his son, Charles, his father, J. M. Gwin of Bogue Chitto, Miss., two sisters, Mrs. J. O. Neal of Hot Springs, Ark., Mrs. Bertie Jacob of Lexie, Miss., and four brothers, P. G. Gwin of Summitt, Miss., D. E. Gwin of Bogue Chitto, Miss., G. C. Gwin of Magnolia, Ark., and J. L. Gwin of Baton Rouge. Funeral services were held at Bogue Chitto, Miss., Wednesday afternoon at 2:30 p.m.
