Gwin, 69, Dies Sunday, Rites Conducted Tuesday Retired Contractor Was Local Resident Almost Half Century Funeral services were conducted at 10 a.m. Tuesday for John M. Gwin, 69, retired building contractor who died here late Sunday night after a lengthy illness. Rites were conducted in the First Methodist Church by the Rev. P. M. Caraway, pastor, and interment was in the Winnfield Cemetery under direction of Edmonds Funeral Home. Pallbearers were Earl Applewhite, Tracy Harrel, Jim Madden, Coy Miller, Bryant Sholars, and Louis Sholars. Mr. Gwin was born in Richland Parish in September, 1882, and was reared in Minden. He moved to Winnfield in 1904 and on September 14, 1916, he was married in Corrigan, Texas, to Miss Lennie Martindale of Carmona, Texas. In addition to his widow, he is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Herman Glover of Stuttgart, Ark., and Mrs. J. O. Dockins of Dacca, Pakistan; one son, Malcom Gwin of Cleburne, Texas; a brother, D. J. Gwin of Union Springs, Ala.; one sister, Mrs. Mack L. Branch of Winnfield, and two grandchildren. He was a member of the First Methodist Church of Winnfield.
