All rights reserved. http://usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://usgwarchives.net/la/lafiles.htm ********************************************** From: August 5, 1926 Winn Parish Enterprise Byrd Cook Greenwood After an illness of about four months Byrd Cook Greenwood died at his home at noon, Tuesday, August 3rd. He was a native of Iowa and was sixty-eight years old at the time of his death. He was a blacksmith by trade and first came to Winnfield as blacksmith for the Tansy Construction Co. when the L. & A. railroad was being built into Winnfield. Upon the completion of this work he went with Tansy Construction Co. to other places where they had work until about five years ago, he came back to Winnfield where he has resided since. Mr. Greenwood was a man of strong character and proved to be a friend in need whenever his services were needed. To this union with Miss Mary Elizabeth Crone, three children were born, two sons and one daughter, one son, John Greenwood having preceded him to the grave. The two surviving ones are Burt Greenwood of Rayville and Mrs. W. M. Hall of Winnfield, both of whom were with him at the time of his death. Funeral services were conducted by Rev. J. D. Kitchingham at 10 a.m. Wednesday, in the Winnfield Cemetery where the body was laid to rest.
