John P. Garner Succumbs; Rites Held Tuesday

John Paul Garner, 63, of Montgomery, died Monday, February 19, 1968 after a
lengthy illness in a Winnfield funeral hospital.

Funeral services were held at 3 p.m. Tuesday in the Union Hill Baptist Church
with the Rev. Lum Ellis and the Rev. Henry Pickett officiating.  Burial was in
the Mt. Zion Cemetery under the direction of Southern Funeral Home.

Survivors are his widow; one daughter, Mrs. David Lynn Ward of Montgomery;
three brothers, J. E. Garner, Eugene Garner, and Arnold Garner, all of
Montgomery; and three sisters, Miss Mae Garner, Mrs. Lula Horn, and Mrs. Pearl
Jennings, all of Montgomery.

Serving as pallbearers were Kent Wardlow, David Ward, Gilbert Hattaway, Carol
Perkins, Warren Ferrier, Tommy Lashley, Phil Lasyone, and Louis Dubois.

Honorary pallbearers were Ross Lang, Ashton Collier, Elwood Lasyone, Will
Fletcher, Charles Ward, and J. D. Lasyone.
