L. Garrett, 83, Dies; Rites Held At Bethlehem Funeral services for Patrick L. Garrett, 83, of Winnfield, were held at 3 p.m. Friday at Bethlehem Baptist Church with Revs. Charles Thornton and Elbert Pringle officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery under direction of Southern Funeral Home of Winnfield. Mr. Garrett died Thursday, February 15, 1973 at a local hospital after a short illness. He was a Winn Parish native, a former street superintendent for the City of Winnfield, and a member of the Baptist Church. Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Nola Garrett of Winnfield; two sons, Dewey Garrett of Columbia and Machen Garrett of Winnfield; two stepsons, Waldo Thomas of Norwalk, Calif., and James Thomas of Winnfield; one stepdaughter, Mrs. Jettie Garrigues of Miami, Fla.; one brother, Onos Garrett of Winnfield; one granddaughter, nine step grandchildren, four great grandchildren, and four great-great grandchildren. Pallbearers were Dan Garrett, Colvin Garrett, Gary Bates, Woodrow Chandler, Buck Garrett, and Alon Johnson.
