Adams, of Stovall, Jackson parish. It was another case of not supposing that the gun was loaded, the boy playing with what was thought to be an empty breech-loading shotgun, when it was discharged, the charge of shot taking effect in the back and penetrating the heart, death resulting almost instantly. In the panic that followed the shooting a messenger was dispatched to Dodson and Drs. J.H. Pankey and J.F. Faith were sent to the scene of the trouble in haste, only to find that the fair young lady, who it is said, was to have been married in the near future, was cold in death. At the time the doctors were sent for it was not known that she was shot dead, but the idea was conveyed that it might be possible to prevent death if surgical and medical aid could be had promptly. Brothers and sisters of the deceased were telegraphed the sad news Sunday night, they residing in Texas, Arkansas and Alabama, some of whom wired that they would leave on the first train and to hold the body pending their arrival. Burial and funeral services will be held at Harmony Grove church, near Gaar's Mills. ===== Submitted by Greggory E. B. Adams. Surely the hand of affliction is laid heavily on Mr. Adams of late. It will be remembered by our readers that only two weeks ago, Mr. Adams' son was buried; only one week ago his wife was buried; and now his daughter, the only one large enough to take her mother's place in the management of home, has departed. These troubles severe as they seem, must be borne. An All-wise Providence has decreed it, and His ways are passed finding out. They are gone, our duty is to prepare to meet them. Mr. Adams has our condolence and sympathy in this hour of bereavement. ===== Karen Garrett colvin_garrett@bellsouth.net January 2, 2007, 8:40 pm Southern Sentinel March 20, 1885 A son of Mr. W.B. Adams died March 17th inst., apparently with the same disease that has been so destructive to the Adams family of late. His death, making the fourth in the space of three weeks. As soon as it was ascertained that he was dying, Dr. Brian, who was attending the case sent for Dr. Kelly, who, in the company with young Hardy Brian, a student of medicine, repaired to the residence of Mr. Adams, and the two physicians above named, held an autopsy of the dead body, in order to ascertain if possible, what could be the disease. On examination of the brain, it was found that the disease was Cerebro Meningitis.
