Survivors are two daughters, Mrs. Charles B. Shell, Sr. of Joyce, and Mrs. R. D. Skains, Jr., of Winnfield; four brothers, Velvert Connor of Salt Lake City, Utah, Melvin Connor of Kingman, Ariz., Gilbert Connor and Marlin Connor of Winnfield; a sister, Mrs. B. F. Taylor of Winnfield, and three grandchildren. Funeral services were held at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday in the chapel of Southern Funeral Home of Winnfield with Rev. Melvin Connor officiating. Alexander, 98, Dies at Jonesboro Monday, Thomas Harvey Alexander, 98 year old Confederate Veteran died at the home of his daughter in Jonesboro Monday of this week and was buried in the Liberty Hill Cemetery the following day. Mr. Alexander served the entire period of the Civil War under the leadership of General Robert E. Lee and returned after the conflict having received no wounds. He is survived by seven children, Mrs. Martha Myrick, H. G. and W. Y. Alexander of Winnfield; G. L. Alexander, Tuttle, Okla.; P. H. Alexander, Mrs. Leslie Brown and Mrs. Ed Smelly of Jonesboro. Those attending the funeral from here included Mrs. Martha Myrick, Mr. and Mrs. Dan Page, H. G. and W. L. Alexander, Mr. and Mr. Charlie Ray, Bascom and Harvey Myrick, Mr. and Mrs. Earnest Evans, Jim Alexander, Jim Anderson, and J. E. Davies Date Submitted: Jun 1998 From: October 31, 1935 Winn Parish Enterprise Pneumonia Claims 15 Year Old Youth Elmore Alford, 15 year old son of Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Alford, who reside on the Winnfield-Marble Quarry highway, died Sunday, October 27, following an illness of several weeks with pneumonia. Funeral services were conducted Monday at the Winnfield Cemetery with the Rev. Alwin Stokes, pastor Winnfield Presbyterian Church officiating. Floyd Allbritton, former police juror of Ward 2 and prominent farmer and stock raiser of this section died at a local clinic Tuesday following an illness of several months. The deceased, the son of the late J. J. Allbritton, was born in Texas and moved here with his parents when a small boy. He grew to manhood in Winn Parish and engaged in farming and cattle raising. One of his chief interests was rodeo shows, a number of which he staged in Winnfield and his home in Ward 2. He was a member of the Beech Creek Baptist Church, where funeral services will be conducted by the Rev. R. M. Doughty, pastor, probably Sunday or as soon as arrangements can be completed pending the arrival of his sons, J. C. Allbritton who is in the armed forces located at Camp Cook, California. Surviving him are his widow, four children, three of whom are by a former marriage, J. C. Allbritton of Camp Cook, Calif., two daughters, Miss Audie Allbritton of Baton Rouge, and Mrs. J. W. Flenekin of New Orleans, and a small son, H. F. Allbritton; three brothers, E. E. Allbritton and Ed Allbritton of Ward 2, and two sisters, the former Miss Lula Allbritton but who is married and lives in Arkansas, and Mrs. Perry Keyes. He served as police juror of Ward 2 for two terms, 1928-32 and 1932-36. He was a leader in his community in all civic, political and church activities. ===== Submitted by Greggory E. Allbritton of Curry, 81 years, 3 months, and 20 days old, died Tuesday morning at 3 o'clock at an Alexandria hospital following an operation. Funeral services were held Wednesday at 2:30 p.m. at the Beech Creek Church, with burial in the Beech Creek Cemetery. Mr. Allbritton was born June 4, 1859 in St. Augustine County, Texas. He lived in different parts of his native state until 1901 when he moved to Ward Two of Winn Parish, where he lived the remainder of his life. He was a stock raiser and farmer, and active until his death. His wife, the former Miss Nancy Doolittle, passed away on October 12, 1937. He is survived by ____ of his nine children: B. F. Floyd Allbritton is former Police Juror from Ward 2. Mrs. Allbritton is a native of Macon, Georgia, but married J. J. Allbritton in St. Augustine, Texas. They moved to Winn Parish in 1901. Allbritton of Curry Is Found Dead In the Garden Funeral services for Mrs. W. H. Allbritton, who was found dead in her garden on Thursday, April 5, were held on the following day and interment was made in the Beech Creek Cemetery. The Rev. Milton Doughty of Tullos and Rev. Jesse Allbritton of Jena conducted the services. Surviving the deceased are her husband, W. H. Allbritton, and seven children, O. D., Odessa, Otto, W. Davies Date Submitted: Aug 1998 From: August 19, 1954 Winn Parish Enterprise Former Resident Dies Suddenly at Lake Charles Home Luther Grover Allee, Sr., age 68, former local resident, died last Sunday at his home in Lake Charles following a heart attack. Funeral services were held Tuesday at the Hixson Brothers Funeral Chapel in Lake Charles followed by burial in the Prien Park Cemetery. Rev. A. D. Beckton, pastor of the Westlake Baptist Church, officiated. Mr. Allee with his family were residents of Winnfield for more than twenty years, leaving here to live in Lake Charles about twelve years ago. Surviving him are his widow, Mrs. Minnie McConathy Allee, one daughter, Mrs. Harold Snatic, one son, L. G. Allee, Jr., and one granddaughter, Vickie Marie Snatic all of Lake Charles; one brother, Garnet Allee, Eldon, Missouri.
