Davies Date Submitted: Jun 1998 From: October 24, 1935 Winn Parish Enterprise Mrs. A. B. Anders Succumbs After a Very Long Illness Mrs. Adam B. Anders, age 79 years, succumbed at her home in Dodson Thursday night, October 17, 1935, after a lengthy illness. Funeral services were conducted Friday afternoon by the Rev. W. T. Strain of Simsboro, former pastor of the Dodson Baptist Church and a friend for many years of the family. Interment was in Transport Cemetery in Jackson (Winn) Parish. Pallbearers were G. W. Price, L. L. Lee, W. D. Temple, Cordell Gaar, Thos. E. Ware, B. F. Temple, and A. L. Mixon. Miss Amanda Eugene Terrel was born in Jasper County, Miss., on February 18th, 1856. She became the bride of Adam B. Anders on January 11, 1877. To this union were born eight children, three of whom survive. They are Miss Vilia Anders, Mrs. G. C. Moore, of Dodson; George D. Anders of Effie, La. Others surviving are two brothers, J. R. and W. B. Terrel, of Dodson, besides numerous other relatives and friends. At an early age in life she became a member of the Baptist denomination and ever lived in the faith and belief. "Aunt Gene", as she was kindly referred to by her host of friends in the Dodson section, was a member of a highly esteemed and well-known family. ===== Submitted by Greggory E. Davies Date Submitted: Mar 1998 From the December 28, 1951 Winnfield News-American Father of Local Man Buried In Jena December 19 Funeral services were held for Henry Allen Anders, 83, of Jena, father of Jesse O. Anders of Winnfield, at the Nolly Memorial Methodist Church in Jena December 19. A retired farmer who formerly lived near Atlanta, Mr. Anders died December 18 in Alexandria. Rites were conducted by the Rev. Spinks, pastor of Jena church, assisted by Rev. P. M. Caraway, pastor of the Winnfield Methodist Church. Interment was in the Nolly Methodist Cemetery. Survivors include his wife, four sons, Roy L. Anders of Shreveport, formerly of Winnfield; Sam L. Anders of Vallejo, Calif., Reginald H. Anders of Natchitoches, and Jesse O. Anders of Winnfield; two daughters, Mrs. Paul G. Polk of Alexandria and Mrs. J. O. L. Anderson Dies Of Heart Attack Late Monday P.M. Funeral services for B. L. Anderson, age 83, who was found dead in his automobile early Monday evening, will be held Wednesday afternoon at 4:30 o'clock at the First Baptist Church. Dr. W. L. Holcomb, pastor, will conduct the services followed by interment in the Winnfield Cemetery. Mr. Anderson apparently had suffered a heart attack after getting into his car at the close of business on Monday afternoon. He was engaged in the insurance business which he had owned and operated for many years. A native of Alabama, Mr. Anderson came to Winnfield in 1903 to be assistant cashier of the Bank of Winnfield, the first bank opened in Winn Parish. (Note: This may not be correct). Later he served for about thirty years as treasurer of Winn Parish and one term from Ward One on the Police Jury. Active in church affairs in this area he served for 40 years as treasurer of the First Baptist Church of Winnfield, of which he was a deacon at the time of his death. Survivors are one son, Glenn Anderson of Monroe, one daughter, Mrs. Letitia Lee of Winnfield, one brother, J. E. Anderson of Olla, six grandchildren and five great grandchildren. Pallbearers will be S. L. Garrett, Bryant Sholars, Ed Gassiott, James Watts, Jewel Nugent, and W. L. Funeral services for Mrs. Geneva Dodson Anderson of West Monroe, who died in a Monroe Hospital Wednesday morning, will be held this afternoon, Thursday, at Bethlehem church, near Calvin, at 2:00 o'clock. Interment will be in the church cemetery. Rev. H.J. Mott of West Monroe assisted by Rev. A. Hall of Calvin will officiate at the final rites. The deceased with her husband, H.E. Anderson, had resided in West Monroe seventeen years, moving there from Calvin. Survivors include her husband, H.E. Anderson, one daughter, Mrs. Jake Goetzman, Baton Rouge, three sons, Lloyd Anderson, Monroe, George Anderson, Orange, Texas, and Elmo Anderson, Calvin, fifteen grandchildren and thirteen great grandchildren. ===== Submitted by Greggory E.
