Arthur C. Atwell

Services for Arthur C. Atwell were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Lincecum
Baptist Church.  Burial was in the church cemetery under direction of
Southern, Winnfield.

Atwell, 80, of Georgetown died at 10 p.m. Sunday, June 24, 1984 in Woodview
Regional Hospital, Tioga.

Survivors include his wife, Evie Atwell of Georgetown; and two brothers,
Wesley Atwell of Paradise and Monroe Atwell of West Monroe.

Mother Of Local Resident Dies In Jena

Funeral services for Mrs. Ella Austin, 88, of Jena, were held at 2 p.m.
Monday at Hixson Brothers Funeral Home Chapel in Jena with the Revs. Dave
Goodman, Max Billings, and G. R. Nolan officiating.

Burial was in Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Pollock.

Mrs. Austin died Sunday, September 12, 1976 at LaSalle General Hospital in
Jena after a lengthy illness.

Survivors include her husband, Jeff Austin of Jena; one son, Curtis Austin
of Denham Springs; three daughters, Mrs. Nellie Doherty of Winnfield, Mrs.
Helen Mitchell of Jena, and Mrs. Gladys Cattaneo of Alexandria; one brother,
Augusta Rugh of Missouri; one sister, Mrs. Cora Roberts of Pollock; six
grandchildren; four great grandchildren and three great great grandchildren.

Services for Mrs. Elsie R. Austin, 44, of Georgetown were held at 10 a.m.
Tuesday in Southern Funeral Home chapel in Winnfield with the Rev. C. W.
Jones officiating.

Burial was in Killen Cemetery near Winnfield.

Mrs. Austin died Sunday, November 27, 1983 at Rapides General Hospital in
Alexandria after a long illness.

Survivors include her mother, Mrs. Audie Dietzel of Georgetown; one son,
James Ingles of Georgetown; one daughter, Sherie Williams of Georgetown; and
three grandchildren.

Jessie C. Austin

Services for Jessie C. Austin, 78, of Winnfield, were held at 3 p.m. Sunday
in Laurel Heights Baptist Church with the Revs. J. P. Miles and Calvin
Phelps officiating.

Burial was in New Hope Cemetery under direction of Southern.

Austin died at 2:30 a.m. Saturday, June 25, 1983 in Lincoln General
Hospital, Ruston.

He was a native of Winn Parish and a former employee of the Carey Salt Mine.
He was a member of the Laurel Heights Baptist Church, where he served as
custodian for 18 years.

Survivors include his wife, Eunice R. Austin of Winnfield; seven daughters,
Margaret Durbin of Goldonna, Marjorie Mendoza of Monroe, Myrtle Louise Duke
and Elaine Bridges, both of Lake Charles, Jeanette Sullivan of Winnfield,
Ione Renaud of St. Croix, Virgin Islands, and Linda Farquhar of Holland;
four brothers, W. J. Austin, Lonnie Austin, both of Winnfield, and Evan
Austin of Silsby, Texas; five sisters, Eva Thompson, Laura McCain, and Josie
Gaar, all of Winnfield, Zelma Donaldson of Jonesboro, and Vera Deloney of
Springhill; 14 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.

Mrs. Tama Avant Dies At Age 72; Rites Friday

Mrs. Tamer Brady Avant, 72, of Atlanta, died Wednesday, June 12, 1968 at her
home after a short illness.

Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. Friday in the Atlanta Baptist Church,
with the Rev. Ray Teal officiating.  Burial was in Mars Hill Cemetery under
the direction of Southern Funeral Home.

Survivors include one son, Nathan Avant, Jr., of Hathaway; five brothers,
Allen Brady and Roy Brady, both of Montgomery, Ranel Brady of Atlanta,
Lavelle Brady of Gibsland, and Alon Brady of Winnfield; two sisters, Mrs.
Clarence Avant of Atlanta and Mrs. J. A. McLain of Montgomery; and 10
grandchildren and one great grandchild.
