He is survived by a daughter, Mrs. John Cook, of Dodson, a daughter, who resides in Shreveport, and a son whose home is in Arkansas. Funeral services were held on Thursday at New Hope with the Rev. Young Woman Dies In Shreveport Hospital Saturday Funeral services for Miss Mildred Irene Bolton, age 20, who died at Shreveport Saturday morning, were held at the First Baptist Church here Sunday afternoon at three o'clock and interment was made in the Winnfield Cemetery. Services were conducted by Rev. J. D. Kitchenham of Columbia assisted by Dr. B. C. Land local pastor. The deceased had been sick for several weeks and developed pneumonia a few days before her death. Cleotis Boone Fatally Injured Near Lockport Falls on 3200-Volt Wire While Working on Transformer Burns and shock from a 3200-volt wire received while at work near Lockport, proved fatal to Burton Cleotis Boone, a former Winnfield resident, last Saturday afternoon about two o'clock. Mr. Boone with another lineman, both employed by the Louisiana Public Service Company, were working on a transformer on a pole and in some unaccountable manner Boone fell on the wires. The sparks from Boone's body attracted his companion who by means of a rope pulled him free and to the ground. His face and body on one side were badly burned and that with the high voltage shock rendered him unconscious causing his death about one and one half hours later. The body was prepared for burial and brought to Pollock where funeral services were held at the Baptist Church conducted by the Rev. A. M. Green, pastor, followed by the concluding rites at the grave led by D. L. Lawrence, reader at the First Church of Christ- Scientists, of Alexandria, Sunday afternoon at four o'clock. Interment was in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery near Pollock. Surviving the deceased are his widow, who was the former Miss Fay Whitaker of Pollock, mother, Mrs. W. A. Boone of Winnfield, two brothers, W. L. Boone of Rochelle and L. A. Boone of Winnfield; four sisters, Miss Inez Boone and Miss Elizabeth Boone of Winnfield, Mrs. John Houston of Warren, R. I., and Mrs. F. P. Verrett of Raceland. Pallbearers included the men with whom he was associated in his work at Lockport. F. M. Shows officiating. The deceased had been in failing health for some time previous to his death. He is survived by his widow and three children, Viola, J. W., and Robert. Funeral services were held by Rev. W. D. Sherwood and interment was in the Cypress Creek Cemetery. Mr. Borden had been a member of the Cypress Creek Church for the past 35 years. The deceased is survived by his wife, twelve children, Etta, Exie, Omelia, Viola, Alma, Elnora, Vernette, Omah, Floyd, Woodroe, Lamar, and Elmer; one sister, Mrs. W. E. Harper Mrs. Amanda S. Boyd, age 79, member of one of the pioneer families of this section, diedat her home at Urania Thursday of last week following a sudden heart attack. Mrs. Boyd before her marriage to the late J. D. Boyd was Miss Amanda Harper, sister of S. J. Harper of Winnfield and W. J. Harper of Crowville, all of whom with their parents came here from Mississippi in about 1862. The deceased was a member of the Baptist Church. Funeral services were were conducted Thursday afternoon, February 6, by the Rev. J. F. Daffin of Olla and interment was made in the Nelson Cemetery in Ward 2, Winn Parish. She is survived by three sons, J. Wright Boyd, Curtis Boyd and Lewis Boyd of Urania, two daughters, Mrs. Anna Harris, Forest, La., and Miss Zella Boyd of Urania; two brothers, S. J. Davies Date: 20 June 2004 Source: Winn News American November 22, 1940 Rev. John Boyd Dies of Accident At Lumber Mill Burial Made Sunday Afternoon At Hargis Cemetery Rev. John Boyd, 54 years old, of Mars Hill Community, employee of D. D. Lang's saw mill at Verda, was instantly killed at 8:00 o'clock Friday morning, Nov. 15, when a cut-off saw cut him deeply in his back below the right shoulder. According to reports, Rev. Boyd was running the cut-off saw when the ropes which held the weights to the blade broke, and threw the saw into his back. he never knew what hit him. Rev. Boyd was born May 21, 1886 in Marshall, Texas, and moved to Louisiana when a young boy. He had been a Baptist preacher for 26 years. He married Miss Eva McClure, who preceded him in death seven years ago this past July. To their union six girls and two boys were born, two of whom are dead. Those living are: Mrs. Murphy Worsham, Atlanta; Miss Mavis Boyd and Leslie Boyd or Atlanta, Route 2; Mrs. S. Q. Fletcher of Waverly, Fla.; Mrs. Eddie Bandry of Colfax, and Clifford Boyd of Jonesville. Later Rev. Boyd married a second time, Ader May Moreau, who survives him. One daughter was born to this union, Ellerna, four years old. Funeral services were conducted Sunday, with the Revs. Moses Mercer of Colfax, Valery of Alexandria, and C. E. Arrington of Dry Prong, officiating. Burial was made at 2:30 p.m. at the Hebron Cemetery. Services were attended by hundreds of friends. The deceased has two brothers, Wash Boyd of Jonesville, Jeff Boyd of Jena, and a host of other relatives. Pallbearers were Loyd Guilliams, J. W. Harkins, Bob Corbett, Thomas Hurley, and Frank Lemoine. ======
