Date: 20 June 2004 Source: Winnfield News-American June 27, 1930 A Tribute to The Memory of W. H. Reeves of Atlanta The subject of this sketch was born in Alabama seventy-seven years ago. He moved with his parents to Louisiana when an infant, and has lived in three parishes, Natchitoches, Winn, and Grant. He was the father of twelve children, four of them preceded him to the grave. Uncle Billy, as he was known to his neighbors and friends, has been a staunch soldier of the cross for sixty three years, having united with the M. E. Church at Atlanta when only twenty four years old. He lived a quiet life. His home was his haven and he was ever at his post of duty. While on his death bed with friends and loved ones gathered around him, praying for the Father to heal him if it could be. His will and if not, to lessen his suffering, his voice just audible, coule be heard shouting, "Hallelujah." Family and friends what a testimony! He leaves to mourn his loss, a wife and eight children, a host of grandchildren, relatives, and friends. His children are Columbus Reeves of Appleby, Texas; Lee, Ebben, and Wesley Reeves of Montgomery, La.; Mrs. Please Blake of Dallas, Texas; Mrs. Jesse Terrell, Mrs. Ruby Ling, and Miss Ella Reeves of Montgomery. ============== Submitter: Greggory E.
