All rights reserved. http://usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://usgwarchives.net/la/lafiles.htm ********************************************** From: May 3, 1956 Winn Parish Enterprise News-American Last Rites Held For Gordie Hagler At Dodson Apr. 29 Last rites for David Gordie Hagler, 78, who died April 28, 1956, in a Winnfield hospital following a heart attack, were held Sunday at 2:30 p.m. at the Dodson Baptist Church, with the pastor, Rev. Clyde Averett officiating. He was assisted by Rev. Grafton Shaw, pastor of the Dodson Methodist Church. Burial was in the Greenwood Cemetery, Ruston. Acting as pallbearers were Reuben Simpkins, Linton Mathews, K. C. Simmons, Henry Kornegay, Grover Jeter, and Paul Vayne Gaar. A native of Jackson Parish, Mr. Hagler was born Sept. 16, 1877, the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Newton Hagler. When a young man he moved to Texas where he married Miss Sarah Boyd. Later they went to California where he resided until the death of his wife. Returning to Louisiana 10 years ago, Mr. Hagler married Miss Pearl Jones of Dodson. They resided in Oakdale a few years and returned to Dodson five years ago, where they residing at the time of his death. He was an active member of the Dodson Baptist Church. Surviving besides his wife are two sisters, Mrs. __. W. Faith and Mrs. Logan J. Stovall, both of Dodson; and a host of nieces and nephews.
