Hall Dies Sunday Morning Following Stroke Was Man Who Brought First Automobile To Parish J. R. Hall, 59, died at his home on West Lafayette Street early Sunday morning from a sudden heart attack. Until stricken about midnight, he had been in apparent good health, and died before a doctor could be summoned. Funeral services were held on Monday morning at 10 a.m. in the home. The Rev. G. A. Morgan officiated, assisted by the Reverends H. H. McBride and Alwin Stokes. Burial was made in the local cemetery. Mr. Hall, a native of Winn Parish, had been connected with the early oil developments in the Lake Charles and Jennings sections, at one time was in the real estate business in Alexandria, and later at Winnfield. He was the first person to bring an automobile into Winn Parish, driving a 1905 one cylinder Cadillac in from Alexandria after a three day trip. He was active in local and state Masonic circles, being a past worshipful master of the local Masonic Lodge and a member of the state Grand Lodge. Mr. Hall was a member of the parish Democratic executive committee and was to be a delegate to the state Democratic convention which met in Baton Rouge, Tuesday. Survivors are his widow and two sons, John Robert and W. V. Hall, of Winnfield; two brothers, Lester Hall of Monroe and Jack Hall of El Dorado, Ark.; and a sister, Mrs. Docian McDade of Winnfield.
