3 Year Old Girl Drowns In Dipping Vat

A three year old girl, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Hallmark of the
Mars Hill Community, drowned in a dipping vat near her home Tuesday morning
according to reports here this week.  The child, with another young sister,
was playing and climbed upon the framework and fell into the vat which had
caught water following the recent rain.

Funeral services were held at Sardis Wednesday.

The child is survived by its parents, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Hallmark and two
young sisters.  Mr. Hallmark is employed at the D. D. Lang sawmill.
