All rights reserved. http://usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://usgwarchives.net/la/lafiles.htm ********************************************** From: April 27, 1951 Winnfield News-American Mrs. Martha Hamm, 83, Died April 20, Rites Here Sunday Funerals services for Mrs. Martha Frances Hamm, 83, a resident of Winnfield for the past 44 years, were held at the Laurel Heights Church of the Latter Day Saints (Mormons), Sunday, April 22, at 10 a.m. with Elder Carl Shaner officiating. Interment was in Winnfield Cemetery under direction of Hixson Brothers funeral home. Mrs. Ham died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Orpha Speed, Friday, April 20, at 7:46 p.m. following a long illness. Well known in Winn Parish, Mrs. Hamm moved to this city 44 years ago, and was an active member of the Church of the Latter Day Saints. She was born November 18, 1867 in Clinton County, Alabama. Surviving are four children, Mrs. Annie Connor, Mrs. Orpha Speed, Carol and Milford Lawrence, all of Winnfield; seven stepchildren, Clint Ham of Alexandria, W. M. Ham of Hobbs, New Mexico, Mrs. Lizzie Ginn and Mrs. Eva Robertson of Houston, Texas, and Mrs. Lena Dillon of Vivian. Also surviving are 26 grandchildren, 46 great grandchildren, and two great great grandchildren. Pallbearers were Marvin and Vernon Lawrence, Melvin and Marlin Connor, Lawrence Speed, and Bevely Taylor.
