All rights reserved. http://usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://usgwarchives.net/la/lafiles.htm ********************************************** Obituaries: December 16, 1948 Winn Parish Enterprise Mrs. Hammons Buried at Gaars Mill Last Sunday Mrs. Almedia Dean Hammons, 89 years and 9 months of age, died at the home of her son, H. H. Hammons, Friday, December 10, after an illness of several months. Funeral services were held Saturday, Dec. 11, at the Harmony Grove Baptist Church with Rev. H. H. McBride of Winnfield officiating at the last rites. Interment was in the Harmony Grove Cemetery. Mrs. Hammons was the daughter of the late Samuel Dean, pioneer Baptist preacher, and the wife of the late W. F. Hammons. She was born at Dodson April 6, 1859, and for the past two years has resided at Winnsboro with her son. Surviving are her son, H. H. Hammons of Winnsboro, and a step son, Dayton Hammons of Gaars Mill; ten grandchildren, thirteen great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. Active pallbearers were her grandsons: T. L. Kelly of Gaars Mill, Sharon Parker of Sikes, Pete Kennedy of Winnsboro, Dean Hammons of Many, Lloyd Newsom of Urania, and Juston Hammons. Honorary pallbearers were Qarrin Hammons and Claude Hammons, grandsons of Winnsboro.
