Grandfather of Former Winn Residents Dies

Ithel O. Hammons, 76, of Route 1, Colfax, died at 7:45 a.m. Thursday in
Rapides General Hospital following a lengthy illness.

Funeral services were held at Oak Grove Baptist Church near Bentley, at 10
a.m. Friday, October 39, with burial in the church cemetery under the
direction of Southern Funeral Home of Winnfield.

Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Linnie Hammons of Route 1, Colfax; one son,
Orville Hammons of Minden; one daughter, Mrs. F. L. Williams, Sulphur, La.;
one brother, Marx Hammons of Fayette, Alabama; five grandchildren, two of whom
were Jimmy Hammons and Charles Hammons, former residents of Winnfield, who
played football at Winnfield High School, and three great grandchildren.
