All rights reserved. http://usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://usgwarchives.net/la/lafiles.htm ********************************************** From: September 1, 1955 Winn Parish Enterprise News-American Last Rites Held August 30 for Mrs. Clyde Hammond Funeral services for Mrs. Clara Hammond, 65, of Winnfield, were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the First Baptist Church with Dr. W. L. Holcomb, pastor, and the Rev. Jerry Green officiating. Mrs. Hammond died at 10 p.m. Monday night in a local hospital after a long illness. Burial was in Oak Grove Cemetery at Bentley under the direction of Southern Funeral Home of Winnfield. Pallbearers were Richard Heard, J. D. Jones, Laurie Mercer, Judge Harwell Allen, Gene William Porter, and Joe Watts. A native of Grant Parish, Mrs. Hammond had lived most of her life in Winn. She was a member of the Methodist Church. Survivors include her husband, Clyde Hammond of Winnfield; six sons, Lloyd Hammond of Fort Lee, Va., Leo Hammond of Sherman, Texas, Aubrey Hammond of Monroe, Tony Hammond of Mobile, Ala., and Dewey and Cloyce Hammond, both of Winnfield; her mother, Mrs. Sarah Butts of Rock Hill; three sisters, Mrs. Myrtle Rogers of Houston, Texas, Mr.s Amie Burchfield of LaPorte, Texas, and Mrs. Ada Ca__er of Alexandria; five brothers, Allen Butts of Lake Charles, Wiley Butts of Jonesville, Ben and Houston Butts of Colfax and Dock Butts of Pasadena, Texas; and nine grandchildren.
