E. J. Hammons, Succumbs At 61, Rites Held Sun.

Funeral services for Elvin Jackson Hammons, 61, were held at 3 p.m. Sunday at
Friendship Baptist Church near Sikes.  The Rev. A. L. Bratton and the Rev.
Willie Broadway officiated.  Burial was in Friendship Cemetery. 

Mr. Hammons died Friday, December 8, 1967 in a Winnfield hospital after a long
illness.  He was a member of the Friendship Baptist Church, a timber grader,
and a lifelong resident of Winn Parish.

Survivors include his wife, two sons, Lyndon Hammons of West Monroe and Don
Hammons of Alexandria; one brother, Justin Hammons of Sikes; and four
grandchildren.
