All rights reserved. http://usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://usgwarchives.net/la/lafiles.htm ********************************************** From: April 26 & May 3, 1951 Winn Parish Enterprise Last Rites Held For Mrs. Martha Ham Here Sunday Last rites for Mrs. Martha Frances Ham, 83, who died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Orpha Speed, Friday, April 20, 1951, were held at the Church of Jesus Christ, Latter Day Saints, in Laurel Heights Sunday at 10 a.m. with Elder Shafner officiating. Burial was in the Winnfield Cemetery under direction of Hixson Brothers. Grandsons acted as pallbearers. They were Marvin and Vernon Lawrence, Marlin and Melvin Connor, Lawrence Speed and Bevely Taylor. Born November 18, 1867 in Chilton County, Alabama, Mrs. Ham had been a resident of Winnfield for 44 years. She was widely known having served as a practical nurse and midwife for many families in this area. She had been a faithful member of the Mormon Church since 1927. Survivors are two daughters and two sons, Mrs. Annie Connor, Mrs. Orpha Speed, Milford and Carl Lawrence, all of Winnfield; seven stepchildren: Clint Ham, Alexandria; W. M. Ham, Shreveport; Tom Ham, Hobbs, N. M.; Mrs. Lizzie Ginn and Mrs. Eva Robertson, Houston; Mrs. Lena Dillon, Vivian; twenty-six grandchildren, 46 great grandchildren, and two great-great grandchildren. O. Mize, Maplesville, Ala. Attending the funeral from out of town were Mr. and Mrs. Clint Hamm, Alexandria; Mr. and Mrs. H. H. Lawrence, Plain Dealing; Mr. and Mrs. Vernon Lawrence of DeRidder; and Mrs. Ollie Bost, Little Rock, Ark.
