All rights reserved. http://usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://usgwarchives.net/la/lafiles.htm ********************************************** From: February 28, 1935 Winn Parish Enterprise Last Rites Held For Mrs. Cody Hand At Corinth Sunday Funeral services for Mrs. Cody Hand of Zenoriz, who died at 2 o'clock Saturday morning, February 23, were held at Corinth last Sunday morning at 11 o'clock with Rev. Miley, pastor of the Zenoria Baptist Church, assisted by Rev. Kitchingham of Columbia, officiating. Interment was in the Corinth Cemetery. The sudden illness and death of Mrs. Hand, caused by pneumonia was a great shock to her many friends. She was well liked and highly esteemed by everyone who knew her. She was a member of the Zenoria Baptist Church moving her membership there from the Joyce church under where she professed Christianity under the leadership of Rev. Kitchingham. Before her marriage to Mr. Hand she was Miss Carrie Green of Bernice. To this union three children were born, Eloise, 10, Janet 5, and Patsy Maurice, 2, who with her husband and mother, Mrs. Bettie Green, survive. The services were largely attended by relatives and friends attesting the popularity of the deceased and her grave was covered with numerous floral offerings, the final tribute of a host of friends. Out of town relatives attending Mrs. Hand's funeral at Corinth Sunday were: Mr. and Mrs. Looney Hand and family of Winnsboro; Mr. and Mrs. Ira Hand, Winnfield; Mr. and Mrs. Howard Hand and family of Pleasant Hill; Mr. and Mrs. Jasper Blackshear and family and Mrs. and Mrs. Willie O'Donnell and family of Rochelle; Mr. and Mrs. Julian Keen and family and Ernest Smith of Tullos; Mr. and Mrs. Pollard Mercer, Mr. and Mrs. Wilson Curry and Mrs. Mack Brown and son, Matthews, of Winnfield; Mr. and Mrs. C. H. Matthews of Hodge; Mr. and Mrs. Felix Mercer, Mr. and Mrs. Hugh Mercer, Mr. and Mrs. Oswald Martin, Mr. and Mrs. Owen Guiles and children, Mr. and Mrs. Jim Long and family of Winnfield, Mr. Felix Long, Tullos, Mr. and Mrs. David Nugent and son of Rochelle, Mr. and Mrs. C. F. Long, a, Mr. and Mrs. Oscar Long of Pleasant Hill.
