All rights reserved. http://usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://usgwarchives.net/la/lafiles.htm ********************************************** From: March 1, 1945 Winn Parish Enterprise Vera Lee Hanson, Six, Killed In Fall From Truck A fall from a moving truck caused the instant death of Vera Lee Hanson, six year old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Leon Hanson of Atlanta. The accident occurred Wednesday afternoon at four o'clock in front of the Charlie Durham home, Atlanta. Vera Lee was riding in the cab of a V-8 Ford driven by her uncle, Edward Hanson, 16, when the door of the truck flew open throwing the child onto the gravel with such force to cause instant death. They were enroute from Winnfield to their home. Also in the truck was Vera Lee's 4 year old brother, J. T. Hanson. Vera was a first grade student in the Atlanta School. Funeral services were conducted Thursday afternoon at the Sardis Baptist Church under the direction of Southern Funeral Home. Surviving the child are her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Leon Hanson; her four year old brother, J. T., and a seven month old brother, Robert Lee; her grandparents, Mrs. Clara Hanson of Atlanta and Mr. and Mrs. Bud Barton of Rt. 1, Dodson.
