Mrs. J. W. Harkins, 56, Buried At Mars Hill On February 6

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. February 6, 1950 for Mrs. Mamie Beatrice
Harkins, 56, who died in a local hospital February 5 following a lengthy
illness.  Rites were conducted at Mars Hill by the Rev. George Foster.

Pallbearers were Grant McManus, G. P. McManus, Percy Hallmark, Johnny Carroll,
W. R. Price, and Grady Neal.

Mrs. Harkins, a member of the Jerusalem Baptist Church, had lived in this
parish all of her life.  She is survived by her husband, J. W. Harkins; two
sons, J. W. Harkins, Jr., of Fort Worth, Texas, and Charles Harkins,
Winnfield; two daughters, Mrs. Marie K. McManus and Gloria Nell Harkins of
Winnfield; two brothers, Charlie and Clarence Johnston of Joyce; four sisters,
Mrs. Kathleen Driscoll, Mrs. Marguerite Templeton and Mrs. Lucille Hannan
of Hodge, and Mrs. Myrtle Ashford of Eros, La.
