All rights reserved. http://usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://usgwarchives.net/la/lafiles.htm ********************************************** From: November 16, 1961 Winn Parish Enterprise News-American Eugene Harlan of New Verda Dies; Last Rites Nov. 15 Funeral services for Eugene Harlan, 66, of New Verda, who died in the Veterans Hospital, Alexandria, Tuesday after a brief illness, were held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Mars Hill Baptist Church with Rev. Roy Calhoun and Dr. W. L. Holcomb officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery under direction of Southern Funeral Home. Acting as pallbearers were Casey James, Milton Paulk, Virgil McManus, David McManus, Clyde Purvis, and Merritt Dixon. Mr. Harlan, a native of Grant Parish, was a retired veteran. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Lucy Harlan, New Verda; one son, Willard Harlan of Winnfield; one daughter, Mrs. Mildred Abraham, Lake Charles; one brother, W. E. Harlan, Shreveport; three sisters, Mrs. Hugh Mercer, Winnfield, Mrs. W. L. Fagley, Houston, Texas, and Mrs. W. H. McLamore, Shreveport; and four grandchildren.
