Final Rites For Ruth Harkrider Held Sept. 13

Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. September 13 at Rose-Neath Funeral
Home in Shreveport for Mrs. Ruth Harper Harkrider, 73, of Route 2,
Greenwood.

She was found dead in her home Wednesday of last week of an apparent
self-inflicted bullet wound.  

Mrs. Harkrider was a native of Winn Parish, the daughter of the late State
Senator and Mrs. S. J. Harper of Winnfield.  She had resided at Greenwood
for the past 45 years, and was a charter member of the Greenwood Baptist
Church.

Survivors include a brother, S. B. Harper, of Winnfield, and a number of
nieces and nephews.

Officiating at the services were the Rev. George Carkett, pastor of the
Greenwood First Baptist Church, and the Rev. Jack Russell, rector of the
St. Matthias Episcopal Church of Shreveport.  Burial was in the Greenwood
Cemetery.
