Harlan, 69, Former Resident, Dies At Jonesboro Ellis E. Harlan, 69, of Jonesboro, a former resident of Winnfield, died Tuesday, January 29, at the Lincoln hospital, Ruston. He was well known in this parish having operated a bus for the Harlan-Salter Bus Co. Funeral services were held at Jonesboro Wednesday afternoon at 2 o'clock, and burial was in the Jonesboro cemetery under the direction of the Southern Funeral Home. Rev. J. W. Buckner of Jonesboro officiated. Mr. Harlan was born in Tennessee, moved to Texas 45 years ago, and later to Louisiana. He was a member of the Odd Fellows organization and of the Primitive Baptist Church. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Kate Harlan, Jonesboro; two brothers, John Harlan and J. P. Harlan, of Jonesboro; one granddaughter, Mrs. O. G. Miller of Jonesboro; and one grandson, Bobby Salter.
