Harper, 65, retired employee of the L & A Railroad, died in a Winnfield hospital at 7 a.m. September 18. He was a resident of Winnfield and a native of Saline, La., and a member of the Briarwood Baptist Church. Funeral services were conducted at 10 a.m. September 19 in the Southern Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Mr. Caskey officiating. Burial was in the Weaver cemetery at Chestnut. Acting as pallbearers were Buck Dobson, Pete Breedlove, D. F. Kimball, Bruce Dobson, Edward Thomas, and Coleman Robinson. Surviving are his wife of Winnfield; one daughter, Mrs. T. O. Semple, Jr., of Shreveport; one brother, E. T. Harper, Chestnut; three sisters, Mrs. A. L. Couch, Chestnut, Mrs. E. A. Thomas, Shreveport, Mrs. P. H. Breedlove, Natchitoches; seven nieces and six nephews.
