Last Rites For John W. Harper Held Dec. 6

John W. Harper, a former resident of Winnfield, died Sunday, December 6, in a
Houston, Texas hospital after a long illness.

Funeral services were conducted Wednesday, Dec. 9, by the Rev. B. N. Simmons,
pastor of Homewood Baptist Church, Alexandria, in the Chapel of Hixson
Brothers Funeral Home with burial in Alexandria National Cemetery.

Mr. Harper is survived by his wife, Mrs. Essie C. Harper, of Alexandria; three
daughters, Mrs. Kathleen McConathy of Houston, Mrs. Molly Neal of Luling, La.,
and Mrs. Linda Spruell of Alexandria; nine grandchildren and six sisters.
