Final Rites For Maud Harper To Be Friday

Final rites for Miss Maud Harper, 78, of Winnfield, who died suddenly at the
Autumn Leaves Nursing Home at 6:05 Thursday morning, will be held some time
Friday at the Southern Funeral Home Chapel.  She had been a resident in the home
since Dec. 1962.

Born in the Beech Creek Community on Jan. 2, 1889, Miss Harper was the daughter
of the late State Senator S. J. Harper of Winnfield.  She spent most of her
lifetime at the family home on Center Street in Winnfield, and assisted her
father in the early days of the town in the Harper Mercantile Store where she
operated a millinery department.  In later years she was engaged in various
business ventures.

she is survived by one brother, Blanchard Harper of Winnfield, and one sister,
Mrs. Ruth Harkrider of Greenwood, near Shreveport.
